So I'll try to do a recap of the first few practices since we will be going over a lot of stuff; if you weren't there, check in with a buddy or ask coaches questions about what we went over.
First of all, we are going to be sick. First practice and we had sick lay outs from Brenna and Tote, some well placed hucks, (Goof) and money deep cuts (D-rock). All the vets looked good with their running and helping with field movement, and our new kids (we have a gaggle of freshman and a bunch of seniors that are new, I learned today) are going to contribute to upping our level of play in a big way this year. We have a TON of talent, and no small serving of style out there.
We went over basic Ultimate stuff. Good practice.
Our throws are looking a little rusty which is definitely to be expected first practice! But that also means that everyone, including vets, need to dial into the throwing type drills... anyone who can't throw 100% completions to the correct side of the receiver with the throwing drills needs the work (remember, there is no D here). I'm thinking we will be doing a lot of throwing work in the next few weeks, we will add some huck stuff in here too to mix it up.
And since a lot of people asked, we will be having practice Tuesday, Wednesday and a conditioning practice on Thursday. Pretty soon here we will be scrimmaging other teams on Fridays.
I am not sure if we can just start using the layers@eastultimate">players@eastultimate to send stuff out.... I'd like to make sure everyone is on these lists. If you haven't signed up, go to eastultimate.org/forum to do so.
Most folks actually seem to be in decent shape, Gottlieb, but guess you will be the judge tomorrow!
